The Vault Devotions

 

Find a quiet place and take time to relax

• Pray that God will open your eyes and your heart.  
• Take time to thank God for all the blessings he has given you.  

 2 Peter 3: 4 - 10 (ESV)

Scoffers will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God,and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.

Many people question the existence of God or the character of God.  It is easy to get up, turn on CNN and be sadden by the actions of others.  We see natural disasters, mothers killing their children, and constant bickering among each other.  And we wonder is there a God and if there is a God why does he allow this to happen.  

Just watching the seasons of the year, I can tell you there is a God.  Something had to create this very diverse world and if you study a little astronomy you would discover a very diverse universe.  This could not have happen by chance but instead a Creator.  

Why God allows bad things to happen, I can not speak for God but I do know this.  He loves you.  God loves you like a father loves their child which is something you have to experience.  Your child can do some awful stuff that you frown at, you can punish them but they are in control of their bodies.  They have the freedom to do it.  

Even though my children make bad chooses, I love them.  I want them to come running in my arms and say “I Love You” 

God is waiting for you.  He is going to come back someday.  That someday can be tomorrow or in a thousand years.

• Have you ran into God’s arms or are your running away?     
• Take a moment to offer up your frustrations to Him
• Take a moment to offer thanks for giving opportunities for eternal life 

Prayer

Glory be to the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.  As it was in the beginning, is now and forever will be for eternity.
